Transcribe+ Slow Down Music App Reviews

Crashes 100% of the time!

Every time I try to load anything it crashes.

Off to a good start. Need more features such as...

This app is off to a good start. Very intuitive. In fact, when I saw some reviewers complaining that they couldnt figure out how to use it, I thought "really"? How could an app get any easier? If you can touch, pinch and slide with your fingers then youve pretty much mastered this app. Honestly, looping cant get any easier than this. If there was any interface criticism I could think of, it might be the pitch and tempo controls, and even then thats a minor quibble. But, because the app is bound to grow and add features (at $10 one would hope so), perhaps the pitch and tempo controls could take up less real estate. Maybe a square X/Y controller would make more sense and save space for new features. Im using an iPhone 6+ and an iPad Pro. I use this app for myself and with students. Cons: Right away the ability to touch the waveform and control its speed and direction, including "freezing" the playback it worth the download. Great feature. Not sure about a note? Scrub playback with your fingers over a note and hold and the note will continue to sound. This is bliss on an iPad Pro! The looping handles are excellent, especially with the ability to pinch out to zoom for fine tuning the loop points. The Flag feature is another well implemented addition. However,if I hit Done on the keyboard the dialog window stays open and you have to click Done in the window to dismiss it. I see why this is but perhaps a more elegant solution can be thought of. Wish list: When creating loops it would be nice if I knew the loop points were set at zero crossings. After all, Transcribe+ doesnt just have to be slow downer. With a few more tools, like the ability to save loops as new files which could saved to iCloud or imported to Garage Band or a sampler it has the makings of a very good slicing app. Snap to zero crossings as an option could be a nice visual cue, as the loop handles "rubber banded" (snapped) to hit points. A Navigator would be nice. This could take the space of which the pitch and speed controls currently take. Add markers to the navigator. An Eq for filtering out unwanted frequencies. A Library for storing loops. A Record function. An Automation line for tempo and pitch. Presets for changing pitch such as up a P4, etc. And again, an X/Y controller for manual pitch and time. Other: Its curious that when zoomed in if you quickly swipe backwards the track will rewind, slowdown then fast forward for a second or so to a seemingly random stopping point. Is that part of a feature Im not getting? Conclusion: Apps in the iOS world are relatively inexpensive compared to what they might have been a few years ago to their desktop counterparts. Still people complain about spending $10. I dont quite understand that stubbornness to pay for something useful. However, since there are some very full featured transcribing apps in the apps store for under $20, its obvious that Transcribe+ is going to need more features to compete. Yet, based off its well designed gesture based interface, its off to a good start.

Okay demo version, if you need to hear just 45 seconds

But $10, really?! I get a lot more for less from other music apps. There are other, less expensive ways as a musician to do what this app offers. The tutorial is a joke. At least tell me there are audio/video walkthroughs of what it is you think I am going to benefit from using you app over others. Id almost say $4.99 is pricey, but not out of the realm off possibility for paying. But $10 for an app that may or may not receive full and proper support in the future? There are other options available.

Yes, I do have music downloaded onto my phone.

I have songs downloaded onto my phone, but Transcribe thinks that I dont. Ive checked to see if my music could be any more downloaded onto my phone, but Ive done all that I can do, yet it wont allow me to choose any music to play with. Three stars just because it looks promising, but honestly no idea how well it performs yet.

Great app, Needs more

This application is great for changing the speed and pitch, but can only use songs from your music library. An app such as this should allow imports from iCloud or Dropbox so remix stems and vocals can be edited to fit in a track smoothly. This app does have a lot of potential though, so dont skip it over.

Needs sync

Ableton LINK would be great so you could sync to MIDI sequencers such as AURIA or CUBASIS to transcribe audio notes into MIDI notes.

Bait and Switch

I see nothing that warns me to the fact that this free version only allows the user to listen to the first 45 seconds of a song. It costs $4.99 to remove the time limitations. That said, the app is easy to use and does what it says it does... just for the first 45 seconds.

45 seconds?

Only gives 45 seconds of free time... Really, AudioStretch is better. It doesnt look as cool, but its better.

Wow, why?

Hey, another app that has promise but delivers nothing. Only certain songs can be used on this app, no matter how many are downloaded into my cloud?!? I paid the full version to see if The app would unlock features like precise looping, saving and exporting and the usage of all my iTunes, but no. I feel like Ive been duped. Congrats.

Needs a Few

Helpful tool, but controls need finishing. Waveform doesnt match up to playback. Resetting speed and/or pitch to normal needs a quick detente command instead of hunting for it, maybe a double-tap? I would have waited to pay if I knew it wasnt finished. But its a clean and promising tool, thanks.

Awesomely awesome

This app is super great!!!!!!

One tiny suggestion...

You know what would make this a perfect app? If we could still listen to the song when we exit the app.

Just what I needed

I transcribe music professionally and have always done it in "real time." I did not know an app like this existed until someone told me about it. Arpeggios fly by at times requiring me to listen repeatedly to get the individual notes. With Transcribe+ I can easily slow down the tempo without changing the pitches, thereby saving a lot of time. It has been reliable and easy to use. I would recommend it 100%.

GREAT APP!

This is a wonderful app for listening to music closely, however I think $10 is a bit much for full song use, therefore I think you should be able to choose what 45 seconds of a song you want to listen to but only once. This would make the app a lot better because most songs are longer than 45 seconds! Great app!

Singers/Musicians Unite

This app is a must have tool. In a world where to break down a song would take a studio, it is a complete victory to have all the studio power now condensed to a handheld device. With this app you can slow down your favorite vocals runs and learn them note for note. Vice verse a with guitar riffs. Take a chance and see what you will learn with this great app!

Bad update

Since installing the update this app is frozen in an unusable state in my iPad. Cant open, wont delete, so I cant try reinstalling. What to do?
